The San Diego Convention Center is nearly a mile long along Harbor Drive, which means the loading position you pick decides how far attendees walk and how quickly a coach clears. Hotels on the Embarcadero and in the Gaslamp are walkable, so shuttle programs here usually exist to serve the overflow blocks: Mission Valley, Shelter Island and Harbor Island, Old Town and Coronado. The math is simple once the distances are real. A Mission Valley hotel is a 12 to 16 minute run each way off peak, so a 20 minute headway needs two coaches and a 10 minute headway needs four, plus one spare for the morning peak.
Comic-Con week is its own category. Streets around Fifth Avenue and Harbor Drive close, the Gaslamp fills with activations, and curb space that works in February does not exist in July. Groups that plan early get a staging point, a fixed loading position and a driver briefing; groups that improvise spend the week circling. Biotech and medical meetings bring a different problem, with hundreds of delegates moving to a single evening venue at once, which is a convoy, not a loop. Either way the plan is priced as one all-in number per vehicle day.
